Signature dish · since 2002Salroman Chicken — Korean Fried Chicken at Sukhumvit Plaza살로만치킨 · 한잔

Salroman Chicken (살로만치킨) is the boneless Korean fried chicken of Hanjan, a Korean restaurant in Sukhumvit Plaza (Korea Town), Soi Sukhumvit 12, Bangkok, served since 2002 when the restaurant was called Salroman Chimac. It is double-fried for a crisp skin, comes with a choice of 6 sauces in three sizes (฿260 / ฿460 / ฿660) and is served with fries, shredded cabbage and pickled radish.
What is Salroman Chicken?살로만치킨이란
In Korean, “chikin” (치킨) means Korean-style fried chicken specifically, not fried chicken in general. The difference is a thin, crackly batter, a double fry, and either a sauce coating or the plain “huraideu” (후라이드) style. “Salroman” is the restaurant's original name — Salroman Chimac — which opened in Korea Town at Sukhumvit Plaza in 2002 before becoming Hanjan. This is the dish long-time customers come back for and the reason the restaurant is ranked in Wongnai's TOP 5 Korean fried chicken restaurants.
Salroman Chicken is boneless, cut into bite-size pieces, easy to share in the middle of the table and to eat with drinks. If you prefer bone-in, the menu also has Wing & Drum (윙앤드럼), 6 pieces ฿260 / 12 pieces ฿460, and plain Fried Chicken (후라이드치킨) at the same prices as Salroman Chicken.
How it is made — double-fried, then sauced조리 방식
Korean fried chicken is fried twice. The first fry cooks the meat and drives moisture out of the skin; the chicken rests, then a second, hotter fry makes the skin thin and crisp so it stays crunchy even under sauce. Hanjan fries every order fresh rather than holding chicken under a lamp, so the plate arrives hot, about 15–20 minutes after ordering.
After frying you choose whether to coat it. Hanjan's six sauces:
- Original (후라이드) — no sauce, the crispiest, for people who don't eat spicy food or want to dip.
- Yangnyeom (양념) — the classic sweet-spicy gochujang glaze that most people mean by “Korean fried chicken”.
- Soy garlic (간장마늘) — sweet-salty soy and garlic, not spicy, popular with kids.
- Teriyaki — rich and sweet, not spicy.
- Hot sauce — hotter than yangnyeom, for people who really want heat.
- Sweet chili — mildly sweet-hot, Thai-style.
You can order “half-half” (반반), for example half original and half yangnyeom. It is how most Koreans order, because you get the crunch and the sauce on one plate.

Is it spicy? Kids? How long is the wait?자주 걱정하는 점
- Heat — original, soy garlic and teriyaki have no chili at all; yangnyeom and sweet chili are mild; hot sauce is genuinely hot. Order half-half if someone at the table avoids spice.
- Kids and families — boneless, bite-size pieces; soy garlic or original are the usual kids' picks. Two floors of seating.
- Waiting time — fried to order, about 15–20 minutes. In a hurry? Call ahead and pick up at the restaurant.
- Allergies — the batter contains wheat. Tell the staff before ordering.
- Eating alone — size S is enough for one as a main, or order 6 wings and drums.
- Takeaway — fine; double-fried chicken stays crisp for 20–30 minutes in a closed box. Order it unsauced if you have a long trip.
How Koreans eat it — chimaek치맥
“Chimaek” (치맥) is chikin + maekju (beer): fried chicken with cold beer, the ritual you see in almost every Korean drama. The Korean way to order: one half-half chicken, a beer each, pickled radish to cut the richness, then move on to soju. Hanjan serves beer and soju; soju is ฿290 a bottle. The kitchen runs until 23:00 every day, which makes it the after-work chimaek spot for the Asok–Sukhumvit office crowd.
For a group, pair a size L chicken with samgyeopsal cheese tteokbokki (฿320) or budae jjigae (฿550) so the table has something fried, something spicy and a hot pot at once.
Why eat it at Hanjan왜 한잔인가
Bangkok has plenty of Korean fried chicken chains, but Hanjan has made this dish for 24 years in the same building, Sukhumvit Plaza's Korea Town, where half the customers are Korean, so the recipe has stayed Seoul-style rather than being sweetened for the mass market. The restaurant is a 3 minute walk from BTS Asok (walking guide), open daily 11:00–23:00, refills banchan free, and has been featured by Kin Kub Pete, Don-Jai, Ryoiireview, OKnation and Chillpainai.
